We got up at 5am so we could beat the masses that would be heading into Zion Canyon. You can only take a shuttle bus into the canyon and the line ends up like waiting for a ride at Disney World! We got a little confused by the buses at the visitors center as there are two sets of buses, the orange local buses and the green buses that are the canyon shuttle, so having walked with a bunch of people through town we stopped at the orange bus stop and they all carried on! Whoops that was a mistake, follow the crowd next time! We got on the 6:15am shuttle and it took 40 minutes to get to the last stop Riverside Walk and The Narrows. The Riverside walk is a mile on a path next to the river and then the rest of it is walking in the river through ‘The Narrows’. It was UNBELIEVABLE!! Such fun walking through the river with the beautiful cliffs all around. We got chest deep at one point 🙂 I took my walking poles and we each used one which was a huge help climbing up and over slippery rocks. A lot of people had these special water hiking boots, but we went in our sandals and were just fine. I did almost tank it at one point as I was videoing and my pole got lodged in between some rocks and I had the camera as well, but I fell against this rock and saved the phone and camera and ended up with a bruise under my knee! Got the shot though! Again, apologies for today’s photo dump, still not doing it justice. Walking back down the river made us glad that we’d got up so early as the masses were arriving! It was a complete life thrill that we’ll be thinking of for quite a while. I can’t believe how lucky we are to be doing this trip together and all the memories we’re making. On the way back to the campsite we saw a deer tucked under the stairs at a hotel, Bill thought it was a statue at first, but she was real! We packed up at the campsite, grabbed a quick lunch and drove to Moab, UT. Saw 3 more Rivian’s today – 2 more R1S’s and 1 R1T, which brings the total to 13. I saw a Minnesota license plate today – total seen 47. We’re down to Hawaii, North Dakota and Wyoming. We’re staying at Sun Outdoors in a cabin for the next couple of days (it’s like being back at scout camp!), Bill will go mountain biking tomorrow, I’ll catch up on my journal, sit by the pool and maybe bike on Friday depending on what kind of trails Bill finds tomorrow!
