Bill went off to ride ‘Slickrock’ while I pootled around and did laundry, went grocery shopping, read my book and swam in the pool…exciting stuff!! Our adventure after lunch was going paddle boarding on the Colorado River with Paddle Moab and the outing we chose….”Our Splish n’ Splash guided paddling boarding trip is good for all abilities with an addition of action. With a small guide to guest ratio it’s like a personal guide showing you all the tips and tricks for running rivers. On this trip you will encounter four sets of waves and a bunch of fun river features to play on. This is a fun section guaranteed to get you wet!” There was a lot of moseying down the river and then some baby rapids thrown in. The first set of rapids was little and the second set not so much! Bill stood most of the time, but fell off during the 2nd set of rapids and banged his knee and thigh on a rock. I knelt or sat down the whole time as I didn’t feel very confident about standing up…paddle boarding on the lake is different from river paddle boarding! We were in a group of 6 with 2 guides. It was a fun afternoon paddling down the river with the amazing views of more red rock! We’re off to Arches National Park in the morning and then to Ouray, Colorado in the afternoon.
Bill here. I slept in and didn’t get onto the trail very early. Because of the heat I didn’t think I would be able to do all of Slick Rock but decided to see how far I could get. I surprised myself and felt better as I went and managed to do the whole loop and practice loop in about an hour. It was hot but under 100 so I just kept drinking and tried not to push too hard. 🙂 I tried to edit my video down but it’s still 14 minutes long. Hope you enjoy the ride!
When i fell in the river it took me a second to remember to keep my feet first. I was so intent on getting back to my board at first. but I quickly drifted away from it and had to wait for the guide to catch the board and bring it to me. There was no way I was going to be able to get back on the board until we were out of the rapids. I stood up on some of the smaller rapids but when we hit bigger ones again I knelt down. I know my limits now. 🙂
The pictures from the last few days have been absolutely beautiful!!!
The views out here are magnificent!
Hey guys, the paddle boarding looked super chilled, but the Slickrock ride 🤯🤯🤯. Sat watching it with Frank and he kept saying, ‘why would you do that?’ Because it’s fun.
We caught a few of your F bombs as you nearly stacked it as well Bill🤣
It looked immense.
Good luck from Frank and the Agii
Pretty crazy trying to follow the white dashes on the tail. Glad you are staying hydrated.
