DAY TWELVE

It had cooled down in the night, well it’s all relative, it wasn’t as hot when we woke up as it was cloudy! Bill went off first thing to ride the ‘The Back 40 Loop’ implying there’s 40 miles of trails back there. When all was said and done he’d biked 28 miles, including ledges and all (see pic), looks safe right?! He was very impressed with all the water fountains on all the trails, nice to know if you run out of water that you’ll be able to fill up while on your ride. I sat and watched the F1 Silverstone British Grand Prix , remembering my trip there with James, Gregory, Tim and Jacob back in 2021, ooh that was a good weekend, also very hot!! I rode down to the farmers market and bought some yummy treats, a banana bread and cinnamon streusel which quite frankly was a like eating a little slice of heaven! There were too many smelly candles and expensive organic vegetables for my liking….$5 for a cucumber…..really?!! After lunch we played another game of Cop It – 2 to Vick, 0 to Bill, then sat in the creek in our chairs, where it’s significantly cooler than the paved slab the truck is on. We then went on a quest to find the Yeti pictured on Day 10, as we wanted to introduce Gear Guard Gary to his family!! Ha Ha! Yes we’ve started to lose it just a little bit! Bill thought it was on one side of the trails, so it started off a bit like a Gramps walk (anyone that’s taken a walk with my dad knows that 99% of the time his sense of direction is spot on and then you have those times that you’re trekking through the bush in Tanzania, walking around in circles, through slightly dodgy undergrowth and you don’t know where you’re going!) Bill thought he was going the right way, but wasn’t completely sure, we then asked a hiker and he thought it was on the trails on the other side of the hill. Off we went and never found the the Yeti, anyway Gary had a great hike, played in a cave, found some gnomes and sat in a really big chair! We ended up at the beer garden, can you see a theme here?! Bill got a beer and I sat there with my blue raspberry shaved ice, flashbacks to blue Slush Puppies! We were going to get supper from the food truck by the beer garden, just to make it easier to pack up tonight, but by the time we’d showered and done laundry we went back and they had sold out! Very dull indeed…anyhoo we managed to rustle up a tasty pork loin on the grill with potato salad. We have a long day tomorrow driving to Canyon, TX which is in the pan handle of Texas (the long skinny bit in the top left hand corner) It’s going to take about 9 hours, but that includes three charging stops, so hopefully we can tie them in with 2nd breakfast, lunch and and afternoon nap! Till tomorrow peeps 🙂
