Day Thirty two

Bill and Russ went mountain biking at Coopers Gap. Sunna and I went to The Arboretum at Penn State. It’s free to the public (unheard of!) and is soooo beautiful and a wonderfully relaxing place to walk around. The girls chilled out in the middle of the day while we waited for the boys to come back from their 29 mile ride!! We had dinner at the Happy Valley Brewing Company, went mini golfing and then had ice cream at the Meyer Dairy Store, it was a very fun evening with great friends 🙂

Bill here. Russ took me on a great tour of Coopers Gap. The rain held off but it was very humid and hot. I really didn’t bring enough water for the 6 hours we were out on the trail. Just three bottles and electrolytes. Russ was kind enough to re-fill one of my bottles from his camel pack. But because of the lack of water I was starting to cramp. I’ve had muscle cramps before on rides but this time my left hand cramped and I couldn’t let go of the handle bar! It was very weird, and my arm ached from the muscles locking up. The riding here is great, very technical because of all the rocks. We took many breaks and had a sandwich at the lookout view at the top of Deer Tick trail. I rode a few of those trails back in 2012! I seem to have gotten faster since then too. 🙂

Russ, Sunna and Eston were perfect hosts. Lot’s of great talk and Eston is very entertaining and full of energy 🙂 Vicky probably didn’t want to mention this since she is so competitive but Russ was the winner of the mini golf and I beat her by one point! 🙂

Tomorrow is our last day on the road, bitter sweet.

  1. Hot, humid, muscle cramps and a trail called Deer Tick. What more could you want? Thanks for all the lovely photos, videos and the stories of your incredible journey around this vast country of ours. Hope the unpacking goes smoothly and a night in your own bed will no doubt be welcomed. Love you both and will see you soon.
