Day Thirteen

Today we drove 515 miles from Arkansas through Oklahoma into Texas ending up at Palo Duro Canyon State Park, which after the Grand Canyon is the biggest canyon in the USA. We thought we had to charge three times but only ended up having to charge twice. The first charger sucked as it was only a 50kw so it was wicked slow, but it was a good time time to have lunch and we had time to look in the Goodwill store while we waited! The second one was an uber fast one so we had time for an ice cream and a quick power nap and then we were on our way. We saw loads and loads of windmills which is really very cool, I find them very majestic to look at . We also kept seeing this sign for a ‘Free 72oz Steak’ which if you could eat it in 45 minutes you got it for free! That’s 4 1/2 lbs of meat…yuck! We stopped in the town of Canyon to get a pizza for dinner and on the way to the state park came across this place called Sad Monkey Mercantile which had a sign saying craft beer, so of course we had to stop, because what goes better with pizza than beer, well for Bill, just give me ice cold water all day long! He got a flight of four different beers and we sat outside at the picnic table overlooking this field with some Texas Longhorns in it….how do they carry those longhorns around? Your balance would be all off! Our campsite has electricity, running water and lots of ants! There’s a river but it’s very muddy and fast flowing, not one to have a dip in. I do have to say our tent neighbors are wacko as they have a tent set up and an air conditioner in the opening!! Hope tomorrow isn’t too stormy in the morning so we can do a hike before the crazy heat of the day, it’s supposed to be 100 degrees at 5pm…aieee!

  1. Watching your videos and looking at your pics make me want to travel cross country again. I was hoping to see a photo of your camping neighbors with the AC unit in their tent. LOL

  2. This is becoming my must do activity each day other than Wordle. At some point you realize just how vast and diverse this country is. I may reference some of your blog in planning my next trip. Still have a few states to check off.
