Day Twenty one

We had an early breakfast at the Cliff Dwellers restaurant and Gary had a play on the big rock and the bikes…silly Gary!! Then it was off to the North rim of the Grand Canyon which was 75 miles one way, it was well worth it! The highest elevation we got to was 8840ft above sea level and once again a big change in the landscape, lots of pine trees and young aspen trees with their beautiful silver bark. We drove past a large area that had burned, so that was a bit bleak to look at, but then there were meadows and a small heard of Bison, which was really exciting to see!! We walked out to the tip of Bright Angel Point trail. While I was walking I would get a glimpse out of my peripheral vision of how low down the canyon goes and would get vertigo every now and again so would just have to stand still to make it stop. It didn’t help when mountain goat Bill insisted on climbing up on very high rocks in his CROCS!!! We then drove three hours to Zion National Park, which is 4000ft above sea level, and there is only one word to describe it ‘BREATHTAKING’. One can’t actually comprehend that there is such beauty in the world….I apologize for the photo dump, especially as they definitely don’t do it justice! We got to our campsite in Zion Canyon Campground and guess what, we went for a swim in the river!! Oh it felt so good, even though it’s cooler here than in AZ it’s still pretty toasty. We’re going to get up early to go on a hike in The Narrows before we head up to Moab, UT.

Bill here. Just had to mention that I had a hiccup with my recording of Jade’s GPS track. I know it’s really no big deal but I want to make a large map of the track we took so the more accurate the better. And I wanted to see the elevation change in the map too! Which you can sort of see, but it’s a big jump since it’s missing a bunch of data. Oh well.

Who will notice what landed on Vick’s kindle in the photos?
